IBC – the very 1st executive club of the Luxembourg Financial Centre
In 1972, the Luxembourg financial sector was mainly Banks. Senior Executives did not have a distinct community with a platform to share common interests regarding the evolution of what was then becoming the International Financial Centre of Luxembourg, as it is today in the 21st century.
The International Bankers Club Luxembourg (“IBC”) was founded in 1972 on the initiative of the then honorary president, Mr. Constant Franssens, Managing Director of Kredietbank S.A. Luxembourgeoise. From then on, the IBC was recognised as a distinct community, the 1st and only executive club of the Luxembourg Financial Centre at the time.
The attached IBC communication from 1984 provides an overview as to where the IBC was positioned in March 1984, as Luxembourg continued to evolve as an International Financial Centre, before the first UCITS directive phenomenon and the ensuing development of Luxembourg as a leading global fund industry from 1988.
